Good Haiku David. about 50 swans were mostly circling (some sleeping) to keep some water from freezing in well below freezing temperatures. I didn’t get them all in the picture. They were quietly cooing. In another hour they would take off south towards you. By evening a person could walk on the ice frozen where they had spent the night without falling through.

They group only when migration is happening, I believe. Most swans are seen in 2’s
