the trill of bird song
high in the flowering tree
sounds of Spring unseen
thunderous echoes
lightning skips across the sky
God reigns in the storm

the world keeps going
clickity, clickity, clack
like a lonesome train
trees sway in the wind
new leaves moving in rhythm
to the sound of birds
on the logging trail
bare tree tops creak together
the moon and the snow
A butterfly haiku. Back in mid October, we had some visitors who matched our orange lantana that was still in bloom.
they stopped by, briefly
on the way to Mexico
Monarchs on the move.
she lives in the woods
and roams the rolling prairie
a hunted hunter
early autumn snow
chills the aging apple tree
leaves briskly falling
autumnal breezes
crisp as vibrant foliage
across the bright sky
rain drops off the eaves
as a hummingbird buzzes
drink to summer’s end
sitting fireside the
glowing sun about to rise
with the birds at dawn
