Yes, it’s a young red squirrel. He took over the ermine tunnels under the snow to a grassy slough area (lots of bedding I suspect) after an owl snacked on the ermine. I had the tripod set up for some winter bird pictures (one of our coldest winter days) and this little guy came up, felt the cold, put his paws together and posed for a few shots until my hands were too cold. We both went inside.

We usually don’t see them that young unless one falls out of their aerie leaf nest.
