autumn morning walk
with my breath a trail of fog

Like the autumn rains
on the thirsty, thirsty plains
hope springs eternal
and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s Love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

With the quaking leaves
I feel the northerly breeze
Fall’s game is afoot.

dragonfly. all eyes.
may I hold you in my hand?
but you dodge the fall
One possible interpretation:
The all-seeing dragonfly must sense that cooler weather—and his impending demise—are near. Yet he is still agile enough to keep me from catching him in my hand. He continues to dodge the fall—avoid the inevitable.
