The glistening grass
a sassy wren sings along
with the breeze at dawn
Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.

“Sassy” that word describes the wren so well. We have Carolina wrens who like to sit on the backs of our porch rockers and “sass” our cat when she’s lying in the window. One time she got out and boy did she pursue one of them. Climbed a tree to get it. Alas the wren always wins and sat higher up sassing away. Can’t help but love a bird with personality.

The little wren was one of the favorites of my mother and grandmother. They have so much pint-sized personality! Where I live, we have a few Carolina wrens, but most of ours are Bewicks. Thank your for reading and sharing, Beth. God Bless!
